La Petite Mort and Wile E. Peyote |
La Petite Mort (Morty), the big 0 a.k.a Jennifer Savaglio:
Morty has been skating since childhood, and first discovered derby by attending a Rat City Rollergirls Season 2 bout back in June 2006. Completely obsessed with the sport from that moment on, she joined Seattle’s Potential Fresh Meat Squad (PFM) in preparation for the RCRG tryouts that November. She was lucky enough to be picked up by the Throttle Rockets, of whom she has been captain for two seasons, and has just finished her third season with RCRG. Very active with the Fresh Meat on the league, she enjoys nothing more than trying to make the new girls feel at home and teaching them the basics of skating and derby. She has also taught classes on writing lineups, strategy, and motivating skaters at Rollercon.
Three years later, she is considered one of the best (and by best meaning one of the only) DERBY skate mounters. In fact, she pioneered a mounting style geared toward derby that is very popular with some of the most talented derby skaters. She regularly teaches classes on gear, but never stops asking questions, learning and testing the latest products. She has taught her gear and pain management classes for the past 3 years at Rollercon, to much praise from the students, and has taught roughly 10 other leagues privately. Her goal is to teach the skaters enough about their gear, the products available and how to decide what is best for them so they do not empty their pockets unnecessarily. See her syllabi for gear and pain management here: Wilie E. Peyote, 21g, a.k.a Sarah O'Donoghue:
Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Wile is in her third season at Rat City as a Sockit Wench and in her second season as a Rat City All Star. She discovered derby in the summer of 2006 and joined the Potential Fresh Meat squad shortly thereafter. She was picked up by Rat City in November, 2006, and it wasn’t long before the All Stars added her to their roster. She has played extensively throughout the country (and Canada), and is known for her speed and agility as a jammer, and tenacity as a blocker. She has even been compared to a Jack Russel Terrier in her determination and ignorance of her petite size, as she fearlessly goes after much larger skaters, although part of her sports prowess and fire is from a life spent around hockey (again, blame Canada). She also serves as Rat City’s Interleague Coordinator.
